The space for online platforms are heavily contested, their business can go through cycles of ups and downs, so long as they don't become complacent and continue to innovate, there will be a chance they can find a niche place for their existence. Unfortunately today, I don't see that happening.
Platforms like Patreon have shown that there's a demand for direct support from fans to creators. The idea of a one-off marketplace for individual content creators could be an interesting direction.
As for Notes, Substack could create a more specialized experience for users who are interested in shorter-form content. Additionally, exploring the possibility of integrating Substack with the Fediverse could open up new opportunities and tap into the network effects of Mastodon users and other decentralized social platforms.
