Being friends with yourself and reading what you have written years later is a nostalgia indulgence that I enjoy. I also like writing poetry, the joy of toying with words and emotion to liven up what would have been a normal day. Thanks Thomas, always happy to find others who enjoys simple me time.

I also find that solitude of a willing nature helps me to freely associate ideas, images and impressions so as to compose poetry which means something to me then and years later. The experience often brings together thoughts or concepts which I would otherwise never have thought could be associated with each other.

I love this line - being alone is being able to live the way you want. Being in solitude and understanding that the time spent with oneself is very important comes with age I guess. Your thoughts totally resonate with my state of mind where I want to spend maximum time with myself to understand and decide on future , health and emotional well being . Thanks for writing such a personal and emotional piece Winston 🙏🏻

Many of us enjoy our own company because we get to discover ourselves, more importantly the subtle changes happening within ourselves. If we choose to ignore, these subtle changes may accumulate into big shifts and if not adjusted for we may find ourselves feeling lost and totally disconnected with what we are doing. Spend more time with yourself. That’s the wisest investment.

“ Life can get lonely because no one can accompany you till the end. Learning to live alone is an essential and lifelong meditation.”

Nicely put. And sad, but true!

Thanks for being so open about your path. It is inspiring for other writers like me to do the same.

As a friend of mine told me once, - 1. Write your story, what you know. 2. Write what you are afraid of writing!

Writing to connect with oneself and connect with the reader. That is what we write for. The highest state is when you can achieve both.

It takes cultivation on a daily basis. I’m no good for my family and friends if I’m constantly on the move. Just living Will suck the life out of us. Strength can be found in the quiet. That too, like Thomas, is where clarity and inspirational writing come from. Thanks guys.
