It may seem to you that you are not progressing but your thoughts and words are inspiration to writers like myself. If you can connect with others on that level then that’s success right there.

Very true Tahia. I am striving to connect more frequently at that level that you referred to. Be the light and let it shine.

Yeah. And Substack is the perfect place to find that connection. And to feel supported in difficult moments.

A few days ago, Tobias, a fellow writer, after reading my last piece on a dark moment I was going through, invited me for a call.

It’s incredible how much this community feeling can change everything.

And the piece I refer to, called “I must remind myself of this”, is also to avoid forgetting all this. Avoid forgetting the purpose. Avoid forgetting the struggles. Avoid forgetting the support.

Winston, We are in this together. Until we figure it out, all we can do is keep writing. Hang in there. D

What is the “it” we want to figure out? Sometimes I ask myself...

Livio, What is the "it"? That is the big question. D

Yeah. What it is for you? An amount of readers? Self sustainability? Joy and energy? 🤔

For me, it refers to one’s purpose in the grand scheme of things.

Livio, In the context of the article, I used "It" to refer to writing success - I guess self-sustainability covers my intent. From the broader perspective, I would say "It" is fulfilling the mission of awakening as many people as possible to their unique deeper life.

How about you? D

My “it” would be to make a living out of my (writing) passion.

A deeper “it” I’m still not sure of. Something around “enlighten people” and “help people not to make my mistakes”.

Maybe even to help myself not to make the same mistake twice, as I’ve written in this short article, in which I’m inviting myself to remember I’ll forget my own advice and lessons.

https://livmkk.substack.com/p/i-must-keep-reminding-myself-of-this

Recently I’ve found out I’m actually writing some sort of “recipes” for life. Principles and formulas that have worked for myself. It might me “it” ;)

Several responses here have touched on it. You even know what it is. Love the word "it." That should be the good in you coming out for many to hear and think about. No need to worry about the "product." That takes care of itself if you give what you feel. I believe that. I am trying to write that. It is my way of giving back what I learn. You are doing the same. Having said that... producing more is not always the correct answer. There is someone I read diligently that produces mostly weekly. I read them all, and I see many, many others are as well. I read something last night that made me "know" I should trust my perspective. One idea can change everything or anyone. Ask good questions. The rest will come with just what you already know about using the internet. I started following you when you were on Medium... now here to Substack!

Thank you Marsha, I like your perspective. Your words resonates. No need to worry too much about the product, it will take care of itself. Focus on writing what you feel. The words hits all the chords and the message I wanted to express. I will remember what you said and thank you for following me to Substack from Medium. 🙏

A bit of a technical question here. How does increasing the number of articles published relate to you “shining more”? What’s the positive effect?

If I can’t light up the room with a single light, I will make it up by generating more light.

“Somewhere on the distant shore, someone has not only noticed your light but is lifted by it”

That’s a good aspiration to have.

Some time ago I’ve figured out I was in the middle of a thick darkness. And writing (and the related Substack journey) has become the way to cast light on it. It’s my “Stairway to heaven”. My way to “Light up the darkness”.

Thanks for reminding me of this!

Glad to relight the fire. We all need to let the light in us to shine. So that it can do its wonders.
