“...you will begin with a lot of hopelessness...” This, while it may easily be a potential writer’s initial reaction, should be tempered with both a sense of perspective and purpose.
We often need to step away from our hard fought words for a while and return to them later with a fresh pair of eyes. In the meantime we should both read the works of others as well as occupy and indulge our minds in other creative endeavors - drawing, painting, pottery, sculpture, dance, music - the list is endless. Viewed again under these influences we not only gain a better respect for our efforts but also perceive further inroads into what we have written, thereby clearing a frustrating logjam of words and images. The experience is refreshing and instills a newfound sense of confidence.
This resonate very well, the place where we can get the most inspiration and motivation is from other creative writers. Reading their work helps to trigger our own creativity and witness their endeavors serve to make ours more meaningful. Fully agree! Thanks Thomas.
Hello there, thank you for your kind words. I am a beginner in the art of writing; I just wrote an article about the distinction between job and career - and vocation as well - which you discussed too.
Work is indispensable for many writers, only the fortunate few can make a comfortable living from their writing.
Thanks Jason.
Excellent. You're inspired. May the force continue to be with you!
