“Reading and writing are the most nutritious forms of meditation ever discovered by man.” — Kurt Vonnegut
Writing, to me, is a pleasant little pastime. It has saved me a thousand times from my misfits, my unhappiness, my ego, and my shortcomings. Writing has taught me the importance of self-reflection, how to capture those fleeting ideas, and how to truly express my inner voice.
Writing may be a small thing, but it is precisely because of it that I can face my weakness, admit my imperfection, and reconcile with my pride.
It is my way to cope with the calamities of life and to express my hopes for the future, written down in plain words filled with feelings and disappointment, dreams and aspirations.
Through writing, I can transcend beyond my real life, connect with my dream and bring to life through literary works infinite creative ideas.
Indeed, each of us, our lives are limited by our mindset. Only by admitting our own shortcomings and ordinariness can we live better in this uncertain world.
Writing has helped me a lot because over time I realised writing is not simply about the articles you create but the knowledge you inculcate. Through writing, I improved my understanding of things and increased my desire to learn new things. I begin to pay attention to everything I see, constantly on the lookout for new ideas on what I can write about next.
When my mind is open and looking for positive things to write about, there is no room for negative emotions. Whatever I see, I see the better side of it, whatever I encounter, I distil the positive value of it. It is with such a mindset that my world began to change.
Since then, writing has become a daily necessity, even though I am hoping to make it a lifelong habit.
The force of writing is powerful. You will encounter a lot of troubles, and difficulties in life. However, with the wisdom from your writing, you can face all kinds of sudden hardships sensibly and responsibly.
Writing is like a sanctuary you build for yourself, warm and strong, and it can provide you with a steady stream of energy when you need it.
I have received some comments from readers, most of them saying that they struggle to sit still and write, and every time when they want to write, they will be disturbed by the outside world, whether be it from their mobile phones or their fleeting thoughts about other more pressing things.
In my opinion, writing is a form of meditation. You have to incorporate mindfulness, control your breathing, calm down and allow yourself to transcend into your imaginative world to connect with your ultimate soul. Stay away from electronic products, put your mobile phone in a place far away from yourself, and give yourself time to get into the state before you unleash the force to write.
This is how I meditate and the secret to my habit of writing. If you have not yet a habit of writing and you are looking for a way to meditate, try writing. As long as you stick to it for 30 days, I believe that you will be able to write without outside interference in the future.
“Writing doesn’t help you make a living, but it enriches your life and make it more fulfilling.”
Writing is my way of enjoying life.
