To Win Big Battles, One Must Learn to Celebrate Small Victories
Celebrating 5K followers on Coffee Times Twitter
Celebrating small victories is an effective source of motivation. The power of progress, of small achievements, is a fundamental human need. It is sad to say, but you are your only cheerleader. Regularly encouraging yourself through celebrating small wins is essential to build momentum and confidence, allowing you to recharge, endure, and traverse a long and demanding journey.
Many little achievements can add up to something great, so acknowledge them, give yourself a high-five, share them with your readers, and watch your achievements grow.
Big wins don’t come often, and the thrill and satisfaction from big wins often pass quickly, which makes them an unsustainable source of motivation, more of a constant energy drainer. Creating a limitless source of energy pool by celebrating the little things can make the biggest difference. It feels good and rejuvenating to celebrate little achievements: completing a small task, meeting a milestone, keeping up with your writing schedule, or doing that task you have been avoiding. Always pay attention to the small wins in your daily life and make every effort to celebrate them.
Making a living out of writing is a monstrously difficult journey. One can easily give up by looking at the long and uncertain path ahead. The best way to move ahead is simply putting one foot forward followed by the other, one step at a time, and for a long time, it would be a case of a few steps forward, one step back – which is sometimes still the case today.
Still, simply marching ahead isn’t enough. if you are moving forward but not in the direction you had hoped, you have to muster the courage to admit making the wrong turns and brace yourself to return to zero and restart the journey.
Take me for example, I have left many platforms and restarted my journey several times because even though I was making progress, I was not heading in the direction I had anticipated.
While I am not yet capable of great things, I am pretty confident at accomplishing small goals, and I like working with my feelings and reconditioning my mind to celebrate all my little achievements.
Writing on Substack isn’t enough, you have to work on reaching out to more audience.
Currently, I only focus my energy on two platforms—Substack and Twitter. Substack is to publish and host my publication, and Twitter is to engage and reach greater audiences. It has been a good combination, and the two platforms complemented each other very well. Below is an example of how I market my Substack publication on Twitter.
I have made it a point to be active on Twitter, generating content and traffic by sharing jokes, riddles, quotes and my thoughts several times a day. Even though things are very uncertain at Twitter now, I can only be glad there is a steady stream of traffic coming from Twitter. While I wouldn’t say it is the top source of my new subscribers, it is nevertheless my fourth largest source of readership.
While I don’t know what to expect of Twitter in the future, I remain confident that it will turn out positive.
I have a list of small milestones I set myself to achieve on Substack and Twitter. This is a ‘be happy list’ to remind me to approach each task with joy. This helped me recognise small daily achievements as I tackled the challenge of reinventing my writing venture.
Small wins may include meeting the posting schedule every day or every week or other similar goals. No matter what curve ball life throws at me, I have a jar of small wins to keep me motivated.
Today I am celebrating reaching 5K followers on my Coffee Times Twitter account. It is a small achievement, given that I started this account back in September 2021. It’s been a long journey, and I can only be happy the account has grown this far.
Value each win. Take note of them and celebrate them. The momentum will shift, and the wins will get bigger.
As I celebrate and reflect on my progress, I would journal to record my accomplishments, however minor. Whenever I feel unmotivated or not making enough progress, I open up my record and read my past writing to find the flow again.
To celebrate my tiny win, I would like to take this opportunity to share with my Twitter followers other worthy publications on Substack that they could also subscribe to. I have retweeted some publications on my Twitter before, and I am open to featuring more if you are also on Twitter.
If you would like your Substack publication to be mentioned on Coffee Times Twitter, just drop me a comment with a link to the tweet about your publication, and I will retweet it on my Twitter account. To be effective, I recommend you pin the tweet about your publication to your profile.
I would like to mention how
has done it, which I thought was pretty neat and easy for others to retweet.Martin writes about learning and knowledge sharing, an essential aspect of self-improvement and personal development. Check him out.
