The Road Less Travelled: Don't Drift with the Crowd, Find Your Own Path Instead
What is the purpose of life? This is something I often reflect upon
What is the purpose of life? This is something I often reflect upon. While I get different variations from time to time, there is almost always a common point; A man's mission may or may not be the work he does. The true purpose should be to do what one should do after hearing the calling of his heart, not because of vanity or other reasons.
In real life, many people drift with the crowd and follow in the footsteps of others. But everyone's talent is different, no one path is suitable for everyone. Struggling in a field that is not suitable for you is like asking a fish to climb a tree. No matter how hard you try, it is just impossible to make great achievements.
“Two roads diverged in a wood and I – I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference”
Discovering your purpose in life is a lifelong journey. Like me, my journey is not always clear, and often requires a great deal of self-reflection, exploration, and experimentation. It's a process of exploring who I am, what I want, and what makes me happy. Oftentimes, this journey can be challenging and confusing, with many twists and turns along the way.
It is not uncommon for me to feel lost or uncertain, especially in a world that is constantly changing and evolving. However, it's important to tell myself that getting lost is part of the process of finding oneself, and this road is one that has to be walked on my own feet, no one can do it for me. The entire journey depends on me and the choices I make, and often I have to bear with the consequences that come along.
The journey to discovering my purpose has taken me down the road less travelled and making difficult decisions. I am my own tour guide on this journey, there were many times I walked down a blind alley, and there were times the weather wasn’t on my side, throwing shit and storm to my face. The many times I feel weak and frustrated, I have no one to blame but myself.
On this road less travelled, there are no road signs, no maps. It demands a sense of willingness to step outside my comfort zone and requires me to explore new avenues. I have encountered moments of confusion, uncertainty, and doubt. I have questioned my beliefs, my values, and my goals. I feel lost from time to time, and I have to face failure as well as disappointment along the way.
During moments like these, I have often wondered whether I am on the right path. However, I have come to the realisation that these moments of doubt and confusion are normal, and they are there to help me learn more about myself. Through the process, I have learnt to navigate through these difficult moments. I have learnt to regularly reflect on my past experiences to gain a better understanding of what I want and what I don't need. I have learnt to let go of certain expectations or societal pressures and instead follow my intuition and passions.
On this road less travelled, I have come to understand that perseverance is key, and being open to new experiences and opportunities is important. By stepping out of my comfort zone to try new things or visit new places, I can discover new passions and interests that I may not have otherwise known existed before. It involves staying true to myself, even when faced with challenges and setbacks. It requires a willingness to accept, adapt and learn from failures and to keep moving forward despite the tears and sorrows.
On this road less travelled, there is no free lunch, and everything is traded with hard work. It requires putting in the time, effort, and dedication needed to reach one's desired outcome. It means sacrificing time and energy in the short term in exchange for a shot at the long-term goal.
Our purpose in life can be something simple like being happy or it can be something more complex like making a positive impact on the world. Whatever our purpose may be, it's important to remember that it can change over time and that it's okay to pivot and adjust our goals as we learn more about ourselves.
The whole journey demands the willingness to learn and grow, the willingness to accept failures, feedback and constructive criticism, using it to improve our lives and abilities. Focus on the goals that matter and let go of the rest. We may be little people, but it does not prevent us from blooming in ordinary life. If we put in our best, even a loser can turn into a winner when the time is right.
Like many of you, I am still a work in progress, but I have a positive mindset with a positive outlook. I hope we can all do our best, do what we want to do, and become who we want to be.
