The rise of the internet and social media has brought about an unprecedented surge in online content creators. With just a few clicks, anyone can create a blog, start a YouTube channel or post an article on a website. In recent years, many of these creators have labelled themselves as writers, hoping to make a living from their craft. However, the reality is that most of them are amateur at best, lacking the skills to express themselves properly and struggling to convey even the simplest idea.
Great writers are instantly recognisable by their choice of words and style of expression. They have a certain talent that sets them apart from the rest of the pack. Writing is not just about putting words on a page, it's about conveying emotions, ideas and stories in a way that captivates and engages the reader. It's a skill that cannot be readily taught; it's something that you either have or you have not. And if you have not, it will take a long time to train and acquire.
Many online content creators make the mistake of thinking that writing is an easy way to make a living. They believe that anyone can write and there is a market for their work. While it is not false, the reality is writing is hard work. It takes a lot of hands-on experience, plentiful trial and error, and tons of setbacks. Writing is not just about stringing together a bunch of nice words; it is about developing your character and creating a narrative that captures the reader's imagination.
Unfortunately, the overwhelming number of online content creators who call themselves writers are diluting the profession. They are producing low-quality content that does not meet the standards of professional writing. They are producing articles, blog posts and social media updates that are poorly written, not well thought through, and lack the vibes and excitement to connect.
